Abstract

Childbirth is one of the most significant events in a woman's life, influencing not only her physical and emotional well-being but also the health of the newborn. Understanding the perceptions and factors that affect parturient satisfaction is essential for improving obstetric care and ensuring safer, more fulfilling births. This study aimed to analyze and discuss aspects of care for parturients and postpartum women, focusing on their satisfaction with the childbirth experience, including both positive and negative responses, as well as the role of the support network, with a particular emphasis on psychological and emotional support. It involved a systematic integrative literature review, covering 19 articles. A positive childbirth experience was strongly associated with adequate information and emotional, social, and professional support, underscoring the importance of a well-structured support network to ensure women feel supported and respected during this critical moment. The importance of the psychologist's role was highlighted, particularly in terms of active listening, sensitivity, and fostering women's empowerment throughout the childbirth process.
